Overview
Sanhua is a free 4★ melee Glacio character who does well as a sub-dps with low field time. While Sanhua can fit into any team, she pairs well with damage dealers who deal the bulk of their damage via Basic Attacks,
While Sanhua is a simple character to pick up, optimizing her rotation is a different story. Optimizing her rotation involves fitting several inputs within a small timeframe and performing skill swaps.
Rotations
Rotation should always be taken with a grain of salt. Enemies are NOT sandbags and WILL ATTACK YOU. Several factors such as Parries, Dodge Counters, and being knocked back will affect how you approach the rest of your rotation.
For rotations, we will only consider Sanhua’s sub-dps rotations, prioritizing getting Concerto as quickly as possible.
Sub-DPS
Follow-up
• Intro • Resonance Liberation (Ultimate) • Resonance Skill (Start holding LMB to charge up a Heavy Attack) • Heavy Attack: Detonate (Start holding LMB to charge up a Heavy Attack) • Heavy Attack: Detonate • Echo: Impermanence Heron (Skill Swap) Outro |
Depending on your main dps you may want to Skill Swap on Heron early to delay Sanhua’s Outro.
Sample Team Rotation with Encore and Verina
• Cosmos: Rupture (From previous rotation/opener) • Sanhua: Resonance Liberation • Sanhua: Skill • Sanhua: Heavy • Sanhua: Heavy (Switch to Encore) • Encore Skill: Flaming Woolies • Verina Skill: (Cancel with Echo Skill) • Verina: Bell-Borne Geochelone (Switch to Encore) • Verina: Mid-air attack x1 • Encore Skill: Energetic Welcome (Switch to Verina) • Encore: Inferno Rider • Verina: Build up energy for Outro (Mid-air attacks or Ultimate) • Verina: Outro to Encore • Encore: Swap to Sanhua • Optional: If you do not have enough Concerto Energy on Sanhua cast Skill • Sanhua: Impermanence Heron (Switch to Encore) • Sanhua: Outro to Encore • Optional: If you do not have enough energy for your Resonance Liberation cast Skill: Flaming Woolies • Encore Resonance Liberation: Cosmos Rave |
Parry Windows
Disclaimer: This is a work-in-progress section and will be updated as we learn more.
As a melee character, Sanhua’s Basic, Plunge, and Heavy Attacks can parry. As for practicality, Basic 1 and 4 are the easiest and most consistent to pull off. |
Sanhua’s Skill and Ultimate can also parry enemy attacks, with them also being the fastest and easiest to pull off. |
Sanhua’s Forte-Heavy can parry attacks but there is a delay and it can be difficult to pull off consistently. |
When performing a switch-in or intro Sanhua can parry attacks. |

When playing a sub-dps Sanhua, most of her damage will come from her Forte, Resonance Liberation and Skill.
Weapons
Emerald of Genesis is Sanhua's best-in-slot, boasting a high base ATK, Crit Rate main stat, and Energy Regen. Although Sanhua does not need the Energy Regen, having extra ER does help recover from rotations in case you are hit or make a mistake.
As for 4★ alternatives, Commando of Conviction and Lunar Cutter are the best choices. Both weapons provide the same ATK and ATK% stats while having easy-to-trigger effects. Do note that for Lunar Cutter, you will want to keep your rotation short as the attack buff diminishes over time. At higher refines, Commando of Conviction also provides a higher ATK% buff.
For F2P or 3★ swords, the only options we have are Sword of Night and Sword of Voyager. Sword of Voyager SHOULD BE AVOIDED at all costs, as Sanhua DOES NOT NEED the ER main stat.
Weapon Name | Comparison | Notes |
Emerald of Genesis | R0:100% | Offers Crit Rate, Energy Regen, and stackable ATK% buffs. It also has a higher base ATK due to being a 5★. |
Commando of Conviction | R0: 83.72% | The go-to choice for 4★ weapons, it has an easy-to-trigger effect and decent base stats. |
Lumingloss | R0: 79.20% | Has an easy to trigger effect and the Heavy ATK Bonus increases Detonate damage |
Lunar Cutter | R0: 82.26% | An exceptional sword for Sanhua as she does not spend a lot of time on-field. |
Sword of Night | R5: 71.47% | A worse Commando of Conviction. |
Scale: Slasher | R0: 59.63% | Mostly wasted on Sanhua since she already has short rotations. |
Sword of Voyager | R5: 56.02% | Just go for Sword of Night if you need a budget option. |
Echoes
Moonlit Clouds: Sanhua’s preferred set provides an ATK buff for the next Resonator that swaps in while also letting her run Impermanence Heron. Sanhua doesn't need any ER stats but the extra 10% does help in case you make mistakes mid-rotation.
Freezing Frost: Should be avoided at all cost unless you are running a main-dps Sanhua.
Set Effect | Comparison | Notes |
Moonlit Clouds 5pc | 100% | Your standard sub-dps set which focuses on buffing the main-dps. |
Freezing Frost 5pc | 105.88% | The only real option when going for a main-dps Sanhua. |
Moonlit Clouds + Freezing Frost 2pc | 104.07% | This set combination should be treated as a transition set, rather than something to be used in the endgame. |
Active Echo Recommendation
Moonlit Clouds - Impermanence Heron: Your usual support Echo, which should be equipped if Sanhua is running Moonlit Clouds. This provides extra buffs to your main-dps, allowing them to deal more damage.
Freezing Frost - Lampylumen Myriad: A very slow and clunky echo that takes up a lot of field time and can only be swapped on the 3rd hit similar to Inferno Rider.
Mainstat and Substats
Once again, Sanhua DOES NOT NEED ANY ER substats. The rest of your team WILL generate energy for Sanhua during their rotation.
