Overview
Mortefi is a Sub-DPS who deals most of his damage off-field via his Resonance Liberation. On top of this, he has quick rotations that generate a lot of Concerto and Resonance Energy, allowing him to minimize his field time.
Mortefi synergizes well with Resonators that deal the bulk of their damage via Heavy Attacks, with his Outro buff providing a massive 38% Heavy Attack Deepen. His Resonance Liberation also gains extra attacks when a Heavy Attack or Skills (With S1) are used.
His basic playstyle revolves around building Forte Gauge by attacking the enemy with his Basic Attacks, Intro Skill, and Skill (Passionate Variation). Once the gauge is filled, Mortefi can use Forte Skill (Fury Fugue).
Pros
- Strong Resonance Sequence effects (Dupes)
- Fast rotations and low field time
- Synergizes well with Heavy ATK resonators
Cons
- Will want at least 1 to 2 ER Substats to use Resonance Liberation every rotation.
- Provides nothing but Heavy ATK buffs without R6 and Moonlit + Heron
Rotations
For Mortefi’s rotation, we will only be considering sub-dps rotations and prioritize getting Concerto as quickly as possible.
Sub-DPS Rotation
• Intro • Skill • Skill: Fury Fugue • Basic 1-4 • Skill: Fury Fugue • Ultimate • Echo (Impermanence Heron Swap Cancel) The standard sub-dps rotation for Mortefi. This generates enough Concerto and Resonance energy to rotate in and out quickly. |
Rotation with Jiyan and Verina
Rotations should always be taken with a grain of salt. Enemies are NOT sandbags and WILL ATTACK YOU. Several factors such as Parry, Dodge Counters, and being knocked back will affect how you approach the rest of your rotation.
• Jiyan Outro to Mortefi • Mortefi: Intro • Mortefi: Skill • Mortefi: Skill: Fury Fugue • Mortefi: Basic 1-4 • Mortefi: Skill: Fury Fugue • Jiyan Skill • Verina Skill • Verina: Echo • Verina (Build up Resonance/Concerto Energy) • Verina: Ultimate • Verina: Outro • Jiyan: Intro • Jiyan: Skill • Jiyan: Echo (Skill Swap) • Mortefi: Ultimate • Mortefi: Echo (Impermanence Heron Swap Cancel) • Jiyan: Ultimate |
Mortefi has 22.8% Energy Regen in this video and Jiyan has 26.8%. Depending on your Jiyan's Energy Regen, you may need to adjust the rotation accordingly.
Parry Windows and Dodge Counters
Disclaimer: This is a work-in-progress section and will be updated as we learn more.
As a Pistol user, Mortefi doesn't have a way to naturally parry with his Basic Attacks. However, he can still perform Switch-in skips to Basic 3 and Dodge Counter, which skips directly to his Basic 4. |
Skill Priority
Sub DPS
- Resonance Liberation
- Forte Circuit
- Resonance Skill
- Basic Attack
- Intro Skill
As a Sub-DPS, Mortefi will want to minimize field time, making his Resonance Liberation his main source of damage. His Forte Circuit should be your next priority, as Skill 2 (Fury Fugue) is tied to this skill.
Main DPS
- Resonance Liberation
- Forte Circuit
- Basic Attack = Resonance Skil
- Intro Skill
Most of what was said previously in the sub-dps section still applies here, but Mortefi will now spend more time on-field. This makes his Basic Attacks a slightly more appealing option to raise.

Weapons
As of 6/11/2024, Mortefi’s best weapon is Static Mist for its high base ATK, Crit Rate, and Energy Regen while also buffing the next character that switches in. Both Undying Flame and Thunderbolt do the same thing and are perfectly fine 4* alternatives.
Cadenza is a more utility-focused weapon that can either shorten or mess up rotations if you do not pay attention to the extra Concerto Energy Generated.
Weapon Name | Comparison | Notes |
Static Mist | R0: 100% | The perfect weapon for Mortefi. It provides everything he needs: ER, high base ATK, and Crit Rate. |
Novaburst | R0: 82.26% | On paper this is another decent weapon that increases Mortefi’s ATK up to 12%. However, this requires dodging multiple times mid combo to gain stacks. |
Undying Flame | R0: 81.94% | Provides a strong and easy way to activate the Resonance Skill buff that should last longer than most main-dps’ burst windows. |
Pistols#26 | R0: 79.52% | The stacking ATK buff sounds good on paper, but Mortefi will not get enough field time to build up 2 stacks. |
Thunderbolt | R0: 79.37% | Similar to Undying Flame, but requires you to weave in Basic Attacks mid-rotation. |
Pistols of Night | R5: 71.80% | Budget alternative |
Cadenza | R0: 60.00% | Mostly wasted on Mortefi, he already has a short rotation and doesn’t need the additional Energy Regen. |
Echoes
Moonlit Clouds: The perfect set for Mortefi, it provides 10% Energy Regen as its 2pc set effect. This alone fulfills the Energy Regen requirements needed to cast his Resonance Liberation after every rotation. However, the main benefit of this set is its ATK buff for the next Resonator while also running Impermanence Heron.
Molten Rift: Unless you really want to push Mortefi’s damage personal damage output or play as a main-dps, then this set should be avoided.
Lingering Tunes: The same as Molten Rift, but worse. To put it lightly, Lingering Tunes' entire concept conflicts with Mortefi’s Resonance Liberation. Its 5pc effect will never be active while Mortefi is off-field, which is the majority of his damage. At the very least, LT will provide Mortefi with a 10% ATK buff.
Set Effect | Comparison | Notes |
Moonlit Clouds 5pc | 100% | Your default pick if you plan on running Mortefi as a sub-dps. |
Molten Rift 5pc | 108.42% | Don’t do it, please. A more selfish set effect that focuses on buffing Mortefi. This can be considered if you want a main-dps Mortefi. |
Lingering Tunes 5pc | 91.97% | Once again, don’t do it, please. |
Moonlit Clouds + Molten Rift 2pc | 99.61 | This set combination should be treated as a transition set, rather than something to be used in the endgame. |
Active Echo Recommendation
Moonlit Clouds - Impermanence Heron: Your usual support Echo, which should be equipped if Mortefi is running Moonlit Clouds. This provides extra buffs to your main-dps, allowing them to deal more damage.
Molten Rift - Inferno Rider: If you are playing main-dps Mortefi, then Inferno Rider provides a 12% Fusion DMG buff. You can also switch to another character during its 3rd hit. This animation cancel can be important to deal more damage, generate Resonance/Concerto Energy, or avoid attacks.
Lingering Tunes - Mech Abomination: The only notable effects this Echo has on Mortefi are its ATK buff and fast animation. Mortefi cannot take full advantage of the damage dealt by this Echo, as it scales with Electro DMG.
Mainstat and Substats

Sub Stat Priority |
Energy Regen (Until 10 to 30%) = Crit Rate = Crit DMG > ATK% > Resonance Skill DMG%> ATK |
Mortefi wants 1 or 2 lines of Energy Regen (10 to 20%) to consistently use his Ultimate every rotation.
